Frame of Life
The way you frame your life has a major impact on the way your life unfolds. The way you see yourself and your place in the world determines who you truly are.
The unstated assumptions upon which you rely are constantly exerting their influence. Your deepest, most sincere feelings about life have a way of coloring every circumstance.
The events in your world do not just happen without reason or source. They are driven by your most fundamental expectations of how you will find life to be.
In each small moment and in every large undertaking, your frame of life sets the stage. So choose to frame your life with love, with respect, with beauty, grace and a focus on the most magnificent possibilities.
The way you see the world determines the kind of world you see. So decide to assume, expect and look for the very best you can imagine.
Live with a positive, enthusiastic and thankful frame of life. And within that empowering frame, you will create a masterpiece that grows more beautiful with each moment.
-- Ralph Marston
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ralph has a point here in this daily inspiration. I have found this to be true in so many ways. Joel talks about this often in his sermons. If you expect the worst of life and that bad things are going to always happen to you, you are making that true for yourself because you are choosing to focus on the negative things in life. When you are so bound and determined that nothing is going to go right, you tend to focus on seeing only the negatives so that it appears nothing IS going right. That may not be the case, however that it what you are making a conscious choice to only see. You begin to be blinded to seeing the positives and all the things that ARE going right because you are only focused on the negatives. When something bad happens it affirms that belief for you and you say to yourself "See I told you it was going to go wrong" or See, this is proof that nothing is ever going to go right for me."
But what if you could flip that around and start saying "I know this is going to be a good day because good things are going to happen for me!" "I am going to see good things happening in my life because life IS good!" Well guess what? It IS possible! Anything can be easily reversed and you can make the conscious choice to see the good in life, just like you made the choice to see the negative aspects. I firmly believe and have said many, many times that Life is What YOU Make It! That is so true. We have to option in our daily lives to see the good that is coming our way. We have the option and choice to see all the blessings in our life and to be grateful for the things that DO go right.
There is a favorite saying of mine that I love to repeat. "Everyday may not be good, but there's something good in every day" It is so true. Maybe you are so focused on seeing the negatives that it is hard to spot the good things when they do come along. Won't you try? It makes your day go so much better and it gives such a sense of peace when we are able to direct our focus and attention to the positives. This has been so important to me in my life and it is my daily motto. No matter what is going on in my life, there are good things happening all around me. It is whether I choose to see them or not.
If you can start slowly noticing the good things and paying attention to the positives, you will soon see an amazing thing start to happen. You will begin to see an increase in all the good things that do happen in your daily life. You will automatically begin to notice all the good things in life verses the negative ones. Block out those negatives because it only robs you of your peace of mind and serenity. Choose to direct your focus to the positives in life. Soon you will see how abundant your life really is! After a while, when those all negatives start to rear an ugly head, they won't even have the same effect on you it once did. Sure we all have to deal with negatives every once in a while but it doesn't have to devastate you like you once allowed it to. You deal with it and move past it and go on making a conscious choice to focus on the positive things in your life.
There is an old Native American story that I love that fits this example perfectly.
The Wolves Inside You
An elder Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me.. it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false
pride, superiority, and ego.
The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."
"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too", he added.
The Grandchildren thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied... "The one you feed."
I love that story. It is true in dealing with the negatives and positives in each of your daily lives. Whatever energy you choose to feed is the one that will thrive and be stronger.
So which one will it be for you?

Select your direction
Your destination depends not on where you are but on which way you go. Your results depend not on what has happened, and not on what you have, but on what you do with it all.
From here, you can go anywhere. There are pathways leading in every direction.
What matters now is which of those pathways you choose. What matters now is the next step you take.
Give yourself permission to decide what you truly desire for your life and for your world. And know that there is a way, right now, to begin creating it.
When your thoughts and actions have a clear, specific purpose, each moment will carry you closer to the fulfillment of that purpose. When you move consistently in a chosen direction, you cannot help but reach the destination you choose.
Lovingly, thoughtfully and carefully select your direction today. You are always moving toward something, so make that something exactly what you wish.
-- Ralph Marston
----------------------------------------------------------------
Ralph's words really do say it all. As I read this inspiration for the day I flashed back to my childhood years growing up. "Set your direction and move towards it." That was my motto as a child and it was one of the things that got me through and helped me to survive. I always knew that there was a better life for me out there somewhere and if I could just hold on to that dream, I would make it. Along the way I worked towards that desire as I was growing up to make my life what I wanted and needed it to be. For me holding onto that dream tightly is how I made it through the worst of my abusive childhood.
I was a daydreamer child. Of course my school teachers did not like that, in fact it got me into trouble on more than one occasion, however it was an escape for me as I sat in class where it was safe, I would let my mind and thoughts wander to what it would be like to have a mom and dad who really cared about me and loved me. I would see other kid's parents interacting with them and daydream about them being my own parents. I would see myself playing happily and laughing and being filled with joy. In my dreams, my mother would cook good meals and bake cookies and we would do fun things together like go shopping, play games and cards like Go Fish or Old Maid. In my dreams, my father would be a strong loving man who would teach me to ride my bike and take me to the park to play frisbee and baseball. He would help me with my homework and give me an allowance so I could buy penny candy and other good treats. When I was a child I wanted to be in the girl scouts in the worst possible way. In my daydreams I could be a Brownie! I could do all the fun things that other little girls talked about doing in the Girl Scouts. It was good having my make believe life of a good family in my dreams.
As I got older I still held on fiercely to my dreams of a better life. I created a Hope Chest out of an old box. I would find items to put in it like dishes and cups for when I had my own place to live. Little pretty kitchen towels and oven mitts. I collected plaques and knick- knacks that would be cute for my own home. I never gave up the dream. I kept moving forward. Even though each time I was moved around I lost some of my precious possessions, I still held fast to my dreams of knowing I would one day have a better life. Nobody could ever take that away from me.
I knew the type of home I wanted. I wanted it to be clean and good smelling like fresh baked goods. I wanted to have nice things and good sturdy furniture. I wanted closets with organized shelves to put my clothes on. I like neatness and order in my life. Coming from a life that was so chaotic and full of strife and stress, I wanted my home to be a sanctuary to feel safe and comfortable in. To be able to rest easy and to be able to connect with the outdoors and feel the peacefulness that I knew existed. It was there all along right in my grasp and I kept working towards it. I wanted my home to be filled with love and not angry words and fighting. I wanted above all to feel safe in my own home and to never have to worry about being hurt again.
I put my desires out there and I worked slowly towards it never letting go of my hopes and my dreams. In Ralph's words, "When your thoughts and actions have a clear, specific purpose, each moment will carry you closer to the fulfillment of that purpose. When you move consistently in a chosen direction, you cannot help but reach the destination you choose."
That is exactly what I did and today in my life I am blessed with a home filled with love and caring beyond my wildest dreams. I love my home and the way I have created my sanctuary from my meager dreams. It is safe and clean and neat and orderly. It IS my peaceful sanctuary. I am proud of the things I have purchased over the years with my hard earned money to fill my home with beautiful things that matter to me. When I say "Life is what you make it", I really mean that because I know it is true. I am living proof of that.
My favorite part of my home is our screened in back porch which affords me a view of the woods behind our house where I watch deer and see birds and wildlife in their natural settings. It gives me such joy and such peace. I love sitting there sometimes with my eyes closed listening to the songs of the birds and the world around me. I am safe and I am at peace.
My dreams have come true and your dreams can come true for you too. Give yourself permission to decide what you truly desire for your life and for your world. And know that there is a way, right now, to begin creating it.
Many blessings my friends,

THE BRICK
A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared . Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door!
He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, 'What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?'
The young boy was apologetic. 'Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do,' He pleaded. 'I threw the brick because no one else would stop...' With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. 'It's my brother, 'he said. 'He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up.'
Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, 'Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me..'
Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. 'Thank you and may God bless you,' the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.
It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: 'Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!'
God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.
Thought for the Day:
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring.
He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He is crazy about you!
Send this to every 'beautiful person' you wish to bless.
God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.
Read this line very slowly and let it sink in...
If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Seeing Adversity The Right Way
Anytime God is about to take you to a new level you’re going to face opposition. There will be new battles to fight and new obstacles to overcome. It’s easy to get discouraged and think, “Why is this happening?” But we have to change our thinking and focus on the fact that on the other side of those challenges is a new level of victory—a new level of success. David would only be known as a shepherd boy if it weren’t for Goliath. David’s enemy became the tool that God used to promote him. And God will do the same in your life today. He’ll use those challenges and difficulties in your life to catapult you towards success! If you are
going through a hard time today, if things look impossible, don’t give up now. Change your perspective and believe that God is working behind the scenes. Put a smile on your face and stand in confidence knowing that you are a child of the Most High God. When all is said and done, you’re not just going to come out of that difficulty, but you’re coming out stronger, wiser, and better than you were before! That problem is going to be the catalyst for God to open supernatural doors of opportunity for you! Stand strong in the Lord today and trust that what the enemy meant for your harm, God will turn around and use to your advantage. He’ll take you places you never dreamed and cause you to rise higher and higher in every area of your life!

Thursday April 24, 2008
There's something quite beautiful about the stillness of the morning. Dew kissed with God's breath and the sun on the horizon in the distance. Birds are singing and chirping merrily greeting the new day. As I drive to work each morning, I pray. I ask the Great Spirit to bless those I come in contact with and to let me shine his loving light to them. I ask for healing and blessings to those I am not in contact with that they may find peace in their hearts. I ask for a bright day filled with positive interactions and love and understanding for everyone. I ask God to be by my side and to show me the way he would direct my path. I ask him to keep Lovie and I safe and to bless our lives and to watch and protect us and supply our needs. I know he can and will. I trust in that. It fills me with peace as I drive in silence and observe the wonder of the world around me. The calm before everything comes awake and the day is moving with hectic ativity. For now, I will enjoy the serenity that the barn and this tranquil setting gives me. Blessings to each of you for your day! Bear Hugs! PolarB :) | | Posted by PolarB ;) at 9:30 PM - | |
